How Wigan & Leigh College teaches draping and textile designing

Just wearing a beautiful dress is not enough. The trick is in how you put it on yourself to show it off in the best manner possible. The way you drape a cloth can transform something plain into a ‘head-turning’ appearance. A course in draping teaches you exactly how to go about it.

From the basics of choosing and preparing a dress form for draping, one is taken through pinning, trimming, and clipping and creating shapes using darts and tucks, adding volume using pleats and gathers, and handling complex curves as well. This is not all. Advanced skills teach a prospective designer how to use support elements such as shoulder pads, under layers, and petticoats, and bias draping. This is a necessary skill not only for fashion designers but also those of working in the hospitality industry.

This course is often offered in conjunction with textile designing course which trains one in the basic techniques for making and decorating fabrics. One needs to gain an understanding on how to create textiles to solve design problems. Besides traditional techniques, knowledge of modern mass production methods also comes in handy.

WLCI Business Institute Reviews – Oil Land

Middle East is one of the biggest oil producing areas in the world and there are fears that if this conflict escalates further, it may hurt global oil supplies and also pushing the cost of crude oil towards an upward curve.

Sunni Islamist insurgents have taken control of the Iraqi cities of Mosul and Tikrit. Led by the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIS), the insurgents are believed to be planning to push further south to the capital, Baghdad.

ISIS is an ultra extremist Sunni Muslim group and its success will deepen the sectarian conflict between Sunnis and Shias that is already the most dangerous fault line in the Middle East.

With her achievement and enthusiasm, the faculty member at WLCI Mumbai campus, feel that we all have contributed to voice a change for the issue of Safety and Security of Women and Children in India.

Himanshi spoke about her experience – “ It was an inter – college competition for a social cause held by the Mumbai police of commisoner. The challenges was to bring out the child abuse problems faced today.

Rather than depicting a real picture of a child, I thought of a visual and converted into illustration as it would portray a clear picture and help me to convey the message I want to say. “
